How would you spend your lawsuit earnings?

I love how people think that pain and suffering can be balanced out with money. Someone hit you with their car and break your face? Here's 10 million dollars to ease your pain. Someone not tell you that eating fast food makes you fat, and now you're fat? Well have a couple million bucks and you'll soon forget about your thunder thighs.

Is that why people sue? Because they feel so bad about what happened to them that only money will help them buy happiness? I think it kind of negates the whole victimized argument if you ask for a lot of money, because then you just seem really greedy. I think most lawsuits are done out of greed and spite, not really because people feel victimized and hurt. If they really did, they would want to forget all about it and not even bother wasting time in court over the course of many months or even years.

I also think it's ridiculous how class action lawsuits are just there for lawyers to rake in tons of dough and the people who actually sign up to be a part of the lawsuit actually in the end only make maybe 50 cents or 9 dollars or something silly like that, while the lawyers that actually start the whole thing get millions. Life is just silly that way isn't it?

Home of the free, land of the inconsiderate

It's hard to believe that this government and country built on the principles of freedom and (somewhat later) equality for mankind would even think about "building a wall" to keep illegal immigrants out of the US. It annoys me to hear people being interviewed on the radio or TV and not having any qualms about saying how there are too many illegals in this country and that they should be deported and we should build a wall to keep people out so we can enjoy or lives, immigrant-free. So many people take this place for granted because they've just always lived here and their parents and grandparents and their parents lived here, and they all think that this is THEIR land. Even though somewhere along that lineage, someone had to have come (immigrated) here and invaded someone else's land. But people don't think that way. They're all so narrowly focused on their own lives. I'm not sure how illegal immigrants even affect those peoples' lives, because everyone says that illegal immigrants "do the jobs that not even Americans would do". I know I've blogged about this before. I'm not saying we should just keep immigrants around to do the dirty jobs, but it really bugs me how there are all these idiotic Americans sitting around with no jobs because they don't want to work in the fields or at McDonalds, and those are the people who complain that there are too many illegal immigrants stealing their jobs. Those and all the rich folks who think that illegal immigrants are staying here for free because they don't pay taxes. I'm sure they pay their share of something, even though I'm sure a good chunk of those rich folks aren't paying their due share of taxes either.

I just hope in my lifetime people will learn to live in peace and stop worrying about what other people are doing and complaining about how much better off other people are and just think about how much better off they can make their own lives and the world around them. I don't think it will happen and I'm sure my children's children will still live in a world where people are prosecuted because other people don't think they deserve to be treated like everyone else. It's amazing how far mankind has evolved in terms of coming up with things like dripping glass into fiber optic cable, but they can't even learn to accept other people and to live in harmony.

Sigh.
